Rail Car Stops

Car stops are used in railroading to stop lightly traveled sidetracks where one to two cars maximum are being moved. There are various ways to use car stops: using it as an end-of-track stop for car storage tracks and lightly used loading tracks and as a car separation between an active car and an idle car. Car stops can also be used as a backup for rail chocks, providing additional stopping protection if wheels chocks and brakes cannot hold the car steady in extreme situations.

Car stops are sold as single units but should always be used in pairs. Aldon Company, Inc. has various levels of car stopping products based on frequency of use and the length of the train that will make contact with the stop.

We have also introduced a car stop for FLUSH rail. Aldon® Two Way Flush Rail Car Stops are designed for concrete flush rail applications. They feature steel mounting plates that bolt next to each rail without having to cut away your concrete. Tool free installation and removal – simply drop in/lift out.
